Taking Action

As you can see below, there are many ways to Take Action:
1.  Calling and Writing your City Council Member
2.  Coffee with the Mayor
3.  Printing Off the Flyer and Informing People
4.  Sending a Letter to the Editor
5.  Getting on the mailing list for the Mining and Air Quality permits
6.  Attend the City Council Meeting on March 18th
7.  Sign up for the mailing list to receive updates.

Call and Write your City Council Member:

This is the single most important action you can take.  If someone is willing to take the time to write a letter and mail it in, that means you are serious.

Send a Letter to the Editor

Below is a letter that you will see in the papers in the near future.  You can use this letter as a possible template to write your own letter.  We need as much action from as many people as possible.

Get on the Mailing List for Permits

If you want to stay informed about possible public input, you need to request, in writing, to be put on a mailing list for both Air Quality and Bureau of Mines.  These are both NDEP divisions.

I have created a template for each mailing list and put it below.

Attend the City Council Meeting

March 18th, 2009.

This is the date it will be voted upon.  This information comes from the Staff Report, page 89, that was given to the Fernley Planning Commission.  You can download the Staff Report on the Documents page.

The City Council Meeting regarding this matter will occur on March 18th, 2009 at City Hall.  Show up and show your support for opposing this mine.

However, while you can speak at the meeting, the decision will be made BEFORE the meeting!  Simply showing up to support it will not work to oppose this mine.

You must submit, in writing, your objections to the proposed mine to your city council representative and/or to Mayor Todd Cutler.

Keep Updated by signing up for the email list below.

Your email will not be sold or used in any other way.
